A Memorial Day Thank You

thank-youWe’re taught that Memorial Day is a day to look back and give thanks to all of those who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. This goes without saying. But at the same time we should also be thinking of and thanking all of the veterans who’ve served our country.

At FPA, we have a number of team members who are veterans that we can personally give thanks to for their service. There’s something special about these guys that shines through into their work product. We’re lucky to have these guys, and for this I give thanks.

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the day to day activities we lose sight of what’s important – family, friends, and those we work so closely with. THE most unique thing about FPA has always been the culture.  But at its core, FPA is more than a company. It’s something more akin to a family. We spend more time at this than pretty much anything else we do in our lives.

From where I sit, it’s clear to me how much everyone cares. From the littlest detail to the greatest strategy. From making sure clients get called back quickly to the accuracy of the books. Everyone cares so much about our clients, our company, and each other. For this I give thanks.

They say, “hire for character and train for skill.” No doubt this has been our success. We have some incredible people. For those who know us, it’s not easy to make it onto the team - we have quite a thorough screening process.

And it’s not easy to stay on the team – we have a pretty intense “boot camp” training program (FPAU). Not everyone’s cut out for this. But for those who are, it really is a special place. For this I give thanks.

I always say that IT is a tough arena to work in. Too often it’s a thankless job – supporting hardware and software you didn’t create, fixing things that someone else broke, and responding to problems when you least expect them.

Then you add on the layer of doing it the FPA way, and it makes it even that much tougher. There’s no one I’d rather go into battle with than the FPA family we have now. And for this, I say Thank You to you all.
