7 of The Best Online Resources For LA Investment AdvisorsNot only has the Internet become an increasingly popular tool for anybody looking for assistance with their finances, there are a number of quality resources for RIA specific technology content available that can help a professional Investment Advisor. Knowing what’s out there available to your clients can be an incredibly important aspect for LA investment advisors to know.  At the same time, there are a number of sites that can help you stay abreast of the latest technology.

While younger generations are incredibly comfortable with technology, so too do our more “seasoned” Investment Advisor need to become. The great news is that there are some fantastic online resources out there, each dedicated to helping you up your game and stay current with the ever-changing face of finance AND technology – as well as learning a thing or two along the way providing you additional ways to wow clients.

And so, in no particular order, here are some great (we think) online resources available for LA investment advisors. Each offers a wealth of information and assistance as well as the opportunity to increase your knowledge around technology.

1. Advisors4Advisors

Advisors4Advisors is a practice management website for independent financial advisors. This is a great site, and one of our favorites, providing investing, technology and industry news aggregated every business day.  It has blogs about portfolio management, estate planning, taxes, marketing, as well as technology.  They provide a ton of articles, videos, and webinars with ratings provided by advisors for advisors.  They also provided feedback on applications with reviews provided by advisors for advisors.  They boast of 50-plus hours of CFP and IMCA Continuing Education credit on webinars you can view 24/7.

2. Think Advisor

Considered by many to be an authoritative online resource for investment advisors and financial professionals, Think Advisor offers wealth management, explanations of a variety of policies, opportunities for professional development, and technological resources. In addition, the site discusses current news and events, offers webcasts, and provides online commentary on a range of subjects. Think Advisor is, for want of a better phrase, something of a one-stop shop for those looking to delve deeper into the world of financial commentary, as you should be doing in your role as an investment advisor.

3. Investment News - Techconnect

Techconnect is the technology section of the online version of Investment News. This site provides access to detailed technology information around topics as varied as CRM, Document Management, Financial Planning, Marketing/Social Media, Portfolio Management, and Portfolio Re-balancing.  They have the latest technology news and featured research as well as on-demand videos. This is a great alternative to the hardcopy of their print version.

4. Invesco

Invesco scores rather highly on user friendliness, and offers a wide variety of tools and resources to help investment advisors make the most of their practice. For example, the site allows you to create links to your clients’ accounts, a wealth of literature on every subject you could think of, insights into what’s going on in the investment world, and a range of performance enhancing products to help you manage business. There are also portfolio management illustrations, financial commentaries and tools to help you better your practice.

5. Putnam Investments

Putnam Investments features key commentary, business building tools, fund information, and the ability to create access to client accounts. It’s an incredibly useful portal for investment advisors to access in almost every element of business; the site’s advisor tips, which will help you to develop your technical knowledge, will be integral to assisting clients. The site also features portfolio management tips and tools, and strategy advice.

6. The Wall Street Journal

Perhaps the most renowned of the resources featured on this list, The Wall Street Journal is an absolute must for investment advisors, enabling you to keep up with every aspect of the world in which you work. What’s breaking around the world? What could affect your clients’ investments? The journal’s online edition features content strategy, and focuses on wealth, investment, and the international market, as well as offering advice for financial advisors. It is, essentially, everything you will need in order to remain knowledgeable, and stay current.

7. FPPAD

Created as a blog discussing news, technology and investment insights, FPPAD is now one of the financial industry’s biggest consulting resources, used by just about everybody sharing your profession. Alongside current events and big financial news stories, the site features financial planning technology updates, and will aim to guide you through the minefield that is investment technology. This site is essential if you hope to keep up with fast-paced, modern life.

So, there you have it.  Some great online resources that any Los Angeles Investment Advisor can leverage to get a better understanding of what’s going on out there in the industry as well as resources to add to your toolkit. And here’s a quick tip: when you find a great resource – bookmark it in ALL of your browsers (ie: office computer, home computer, phone, tablet, etc.).  This way you have access to it no matter what device you’re on.
