What would the last newsletter of the year be like without
a look back reflecting on some the trends and technologies
that made an impact in 2010? While the industry may be abuzz
with hot topics like Facebook, Twitter, and the iPad we've
seen some other interesting things providing more real-world
impacts for our small business clients - things like the emergence
of cloud computing and the introduction of server virtualization.
During this last year, we've seen our clients benefit over
and over from some of the latest technologies available like:
- moving Exchange from in-house servers to hosted "Cloud"
solutions - reducing costs and improving service levels
- implementing hosted applications - reducing IT costs giving
clients access to systems they couldn't otherwise afford
- increasing the number of staff who work remotely - increasing
productivity as well as job satisfaction

improving our ability to address issues long before they
become problems impacting productivity

As they say, "the times, they are a changing".
Who would have thought when these words were written years
ago that they could so aptly describe the technology breakthroughs
we've seen in the year 2010? Personally, I can't wait to see
what's ahead in 2011. Whatever it is, be sure FPA will be

Conversation re: Downtime
I recently had a rather interesting conversation with a client
about downtime. Actually, it didn't start out as a conversation,
but rather as a directive. Our client was communicating (quite
emphatically no less) that they couldn't be down at all, ever.
Not for maintenance. Not for upgrades. Let alone as the result
of a disaster. Never. Literally 5 nines (ie: 99.999%) of uptime
wasn't good enough...
