The Network Services Group
of FPA provides a wide variety of technical services to
clients requiring installation and support of local area
networks. Working primarily with Microsoft Windows NT
Server and Novell Netware, FPA supports networks with
as few as two users to as many as 100 or more.
Within the Network Services Group, some of our key methodologies
and services include the following:
In addition, an overview of services we provide within the NSG
include:
Analysis of Requirements
We work with clients in the preparation of analyses to
determine appropriate courses of action with regard to
automation issues. Requirements Analyses include
an evaluation of the current business situation/problem
for the client, the scope of the analysis, alternative
solutions to the problem, and a recommended course of
action. The recommendation will usually include
suggestions related to software, hardware, personnel,
training and support, with costs and a projected time
frame included.
Selection, Negotiation, Acquisition of Software
Based on software requirements, we will help clients select
appropriate software when a packaged (non-custom) solution
will meet the specific needs of a client. We will
also evaluate and select vendors, negotiate pricing with
vendors, and ultimately participate in the acquisition
of the software.
Selection, Negotiation, Acquisition of Hardware
Based on hardware requirements, we will help clients select
appropriate computer systems, printers, and accessories.
We will evaluate and select vendors, negotiate pricing
with vendors, and ultimately participate in the acquisition
of the hardware. We can purchase the hardware for
clients directly, or clients may deal with the hardware
source on their own.
Installation and Configuration of Software and Hardware
Both packaged accounting system software and custom applications
will be installed and configured on client hardware by
Faye, Pollack & Associates, Inc. We define Configuration
of Software to be everything necessary to prepare the
software for a client's use before the client sits down
to use the program. This may include the development
of special menus, the set-up of system master files, and
the performance of software utilities to optimize our
client's system. Depending on the level of service
to be provided by hardware sources, we are also available
to install and configure workstations, servers , printers,
firewalls, routers, and most system components.
Training on Software and Hardware
We will provide computer training on packaged software
and custom programs. Training includes basic hands-on
instruction in the operation of programs and the preparation
of operating manuals and procedures guides to client personnel.
Clients will be provided full instruction in the operation
of all relevant hardware components as well.
General Troubleshooting and Consulting
Our consultants provide general computer consulting services
and preventative maintenance services to clients as needed
or on a scheduled basis. Such consulting services
may include miscellaneous software and hardware troubleshooting
as well as assistance in specific areas of need.
Onsite, Modem and Telephone Support
After the initial training period, clients may require
additional on-site training, periodic repair and maintenance
of data files, or simple explanations of program functions.
We can provide these services to clients as needed or
on a scheduled monthly basis.
We support our clients and their systems through various
means. Although most questions can be answered
by telephone support calls, responsive on-site service
is our strength. With remote access communications
software and modems, we also have the ability for quick,
on-line troubleshooting. In addition, we work with
clients to provide tailored support agreements so they
can pay one monthly fee and receive on-site training and
support.
