The FPA VPN Solution Using SonicWALL Firewalls

Loading...

Challenges

  1. To protect the confidentiality and integrity of essential business information transmitted over the Internet
  2. To stop hackers from capturing and converting your data and entering your network via the Internet
  3. To expand an organization's LAN (Local Area Network) to communicate over the Internet with telecommuters, clients, suppliers, partners and other remote computer systems and users
  4. To support mobile or remote users without additional access servers, modem banks, and telecommunication usage charges

Solution

Implement the FPA VPN Solution using SonicWALL Firewalls.

What is SonicWALL for VPN?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connects the components and resources of one network with another network, laptop, or wireless device over the Internet. With SonicWALL VPN, remote users such as a traveling staff member, a branch office, or another network located off-site are able to connect securely to the corporate LAN and access shared resources, applications, and documents through the Internet or any IP network. SonicWALL VPN uses a sophisticated login and authentication process to ensure network access over the Internet is safe and secure.

With SonicWall VPN, branch offices and remote users are able to access:

  • Intranets and internal applications running on a company's server
  • Extranets for vendors, partners, and clients
  • Client to LAN for mobile users traveling or away from the main office
  • LAN to LAN connecting two networks between two locations

Computer systems using Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP provide a seamless link and compatibility when connecting via a SonicWALL VPN. In addition, wireless devices and networks using Network Address Translation (NAT) are supported.

What are its benefits?

Enhanced Productivity
Mobile users have access from virtually any connection to the corporate network. Local and remote company resources and files are simultaneously available in Windows Network Neighborhood.

Expanded Capabilities with Intranets and Extranets
With the FPA VPN Solution, Intranets and Extranets are utilized to expand and simplify business processes. With an Intranet, internal company applications and data are accessible over the Internet using a browser. Extranets, for vendors, suppliers, and other outside partners, will help differentiate your organization from competitors with tailored and personalized information exchange.

Secured Access through User Verification
Automatically authenticate and identify all users requesting access to the network. Only authorized users who with the proper permissions established on the server will gain entry. All data exchanged over the VPN is encrypted, so that like a key and lock, only authorized users will have the key to use the network. In addition, the FPA VPN Solution stops, identifies, and logs non-authorized users attempting to access the company network and notifies you of those attempts.

ICSA-Certified IPSec VPN
The certification of the SonicWALL as an IPSec VPN ensures compatibility with other IPSec compliant firewall and VPN products, including SonicWALL's complete line of Internet security appliances.

Easy Multi-Client Deployment
Using SonicWALL's GroupVPN tunnel feature allows administrators to simplify the deployment of VPN Clients by distributing common configurations to all or subgroups of VPN Clients.

Simplified VPN Gateway Access
Allows mobile users to access a VPN gateway using DNS, WINS, and LMHOST name resolution instead of IP addresses.

The FPA VPN Solution Technical Process

During the installation process with SonicWALL VPN, FPA will determine the approximate number of users and who will utilize the network. Accordingly, our staff will install and configure SonicWALL VPN to the specific needs and requirements of the particular organization. Once installed on the firewall, we deploy SonicWALL VPN to client workstations including laptops and wireless devices with standard configurations.

As with any online venture, FPA understands the need for security and privacy and will configure the entire system with the most effective and reliable security settings. Our staff then tests the system to verify all components are working in concert.
